Terms of Service
Hoofprint Studio · studio.hoofprint.net · Effective October 8, 2026
Hoofprint Studio (“Studio”) is a tool for producing The Hoofprint student newspaper. It is run for The Hoofprint by its faculty adviser. By signing in, you agree to these terms. They work alongside your school’s technology and student-conduct policies and The Hoofprint’s own staff policies, which still apply.
1. Who may use Studio
Studio is for The Hoofprint’s staff and advisers, using school (bhmschools.org) Google accounts approved by the adviser. Don’t share your account or let anyone else use your signed-in session.
2. Proof of concept
Studio is being tested to see whether the newspaper can be produced on Chromebooks. Features may change, and Studio may be unavailable at times. It is provided “as is”, without guarantees. Keep your work saved to Google Drive, and don’t rely on Studio as the only copy of anything. Studio never deletes your Drive files, and it won’t overwrite a page that changed since you opened it; it offers you a conflict copy instead.
3. Using it responsibly
- Work only on files that belong to The Hoofprint, in The Hoofprint’s Shared Drive.
- Respect page locks. If a page is being edited by someone else, open it read-only or coordinate with them. Only the adviser (or an admin) may take over a lock.
- Don’t try to get around Studio’s sign-in, roles or locks, access other people’s accounts, or interfere with the service or the server it runs on.
- Don’t upload anything illegal or anything that violates school policy.
- Use only photos, graphics and fonts you have the right to use, and credit photographers and artists as The Hoofprint’s policies require. Admins: add fonts to the Font Center only with a known license.
4. Your work
Studio doesn’t claim ownership of anything you create. Pages, photos and graphics are stored in The Hoofprint’s Google Shared Drive and are governed by the school’s and The Hoofprint’s usual rules about student journalism and publication.
5. Privacy
How Studio uses your account information and Google Drive data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
6. Open-source software
Hoofprint Layout is powered by the open-source DesignCraft project by the ArtCraft team, licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0. The fonts in the Hoofprint Font Center are open-licensed (mostly SIL Open Font License 1.1) and listed with their licenses in the Font Center. Hoofprint Studio is not made, sponsored or endorsed by ArtCraft or Google.
7. Suspension
The adviser may change your role or remove your access, for example when you leave the staff or if these terms or school policies are broken.
8. Changes
These terms may be updated. The new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If you keep using Studio after a change, the new terms apply to you.
9. Contact
Questions: contact The Hoofprint’s faculty adviser using your school email.
